Klokey text messages

Text message terms · Effective November 5, 2026

Klokey sends text messages to people who use Klokey, whether they signed up directly or through an organization that provides it, and to trusted contacts they choose.

What we text

Texts never include the contents of a message. They say what kind of sender it is (for example, "a benefits office") and link to the Klokey app.

How you sign up

You sign up when you set up your Klokey line, on your own or with staff from an organization that provides Klokey entering your choices in the same form. You type your mobile number and check a box that is unchecked by default. We text a verification code to confirm the number before sending anything else. You can also text START to your Klokey number.

This is the sign-up form (shown for reference; sign-up happens in the Klokey app):

Trusted contacts sign up separately on the trusted contact page, using a personal link the Klokey user shares. No automated text is sent to a trusted contact before they agree.

WhatsApp (optional)

You can also choose to get the same notices on WhatsApp, using a separate box that is unchecked by default. We then send one WhatsApp message asking you to reply YES; nothing else is sent there until you do. WhatsApp messages follow the same rules as texts: no message contents, just a heads-up and a link. Reply STOP on WhatsApp to turn them off. WhatsApp is run by Meta, and its use is also covered by WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy.

How often

Message frequency varies with how many calls, emails and letters you receive. Trusted contacts receive at most 2 texts per week.

Costs

Klokey doesn't charge for texts. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.
